Wait, Did Deadpool Almost Get An Amazing Marvel Movie Cameo?

Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been wild so far, with the beloved franchise expanding significantly on small screens and silver screens. One of the biggest questions surrounding the MCU is exactly if/when Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool will appear in any of the upcoming marvel movies. But did The Merc with the Mouth fail have a great Marvel cameo in a recent movie?

Technically, Deadpool Made His MCU Debut In A Digital Short alongside Taika Waititi’s Korgwhich was just an advertisement for their movie free guy. Fans want to see a proper big-screen appearance for the R-rated anti-hero, and now it looks like we may have had the chance to see that in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Some concept art for this acclaimed blockbuster has recently arrived online, featuring The main character of Ryan Reynolds. Check it out below,

Suddenly I have serious FOMO. Although this is just concept art and not actual confirmation that Deadpool nearly made it. Shang Chi, I can only imagine how theaters would have erupted in applause had Wade Wilson surprisingly appeared in the cage fight sequence. Hopefully, we’ll see this character pairing happen sooner rather than later.

The image above comes to us from the concept artist’s website Andrew Kim. It helps filmmakers of popular projects find a visual language for their films, including Marvel projects like The ant Man, guardians of the galaxyand Captain America: The Winter Soldier. And when he uses his talents in this way to Shang Chihe included Deadpool in the film’s cage fight scene.

But just because this image features Deadpool doesn’t necessarily mean Ryan Reynolds’ Marvel character was about to join. Shang Chi. It’s possible that Andrew Kim simply included the character for fun, or was tasked with introducing someone outside of the Shang Chi to throw. Opposite Wade Wilson in concept art is Thanos’ sidekick Proxima Midnight, who was turned to dust at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Its inclusion makes this possible pairing all the more suspect.

Still, this image is sure to go viral, as moviegoers eagerly await Deadpool’s grand entrance into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the first two installments (with resounding success) of the Ryan Reynolds franchise came out one after the other, Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox abruptly ended the franchise. While Reynolds has been in contact with Disney and sometimes offers cryptic teasing about the future of franchisingfans want to see Dead Pool 3 arrive sooner rather than later.

As for Shang Chithe film’s critical and box office success led to a sequel already confirmed by Marvel Studios. It’s unclear what this might contain, but it’s clear that Simu Liu’s new hero will have a major presence in the MCU.

The next installment in the MCU is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness May 6. In the meantime, check out the 2022 movie release dates to plan your next cinematic experience.
