A movie starring Robert Downey Jr. being incredibly popular in 2022 probably won’t surprise anyone that much. Having anchored the Marvel Cinematic Universe for over a decade, Downey is one of the most popular stars on the planet. One of his films was recently added to Netflix and quickly climbed into the service’s Top 10, but it surprisingly wasn’t one of his recent efforts.
The movie in question is the 1998 thriller US Marshalswhich acts as a spin-off of Harrison Ford’s hit film The fugitive. In US MarshalsTommy Lee Jones reprises his role as Deputy United States Marshal Sam Gerard, who is tasked with tracking down a potentially dangerous fugitive once again.
Downey also stars in the film as a young government agent, John Royce, who tracks down Gerard and convinces him to get back to work. With Royce, however, all is not as it seems. Moviegoers are clearly enjoying an older role from Robert Downey Jr., as Sunday’s edition of Netflix’s Top 10 Movies list shows. US Marshals as the most popular movie on the entire service.
