Poolside cinema is back at the Fairmont Miramar – NBC Los Angeles

Cinema + summer + setting can be a formidable triumvirate, with all three parties working together to deliver a sublime seasonal experience.

And while the “cinema” part is largely about fabulous movies flickering on a screen, and the summer part is an annual, set-in-stone (or rather, calendar) kind of thing, it’s the element “decor” which can change, transform and even become a little playful.

That means we can catch our summer movies at a traditional theater, of course, or at a drive-in, which tends to be a lot of fun, or even while relaxing on a picnic blanket at a local park.

But in a few destinations, movie nights really make a splash, thanks to poolside screenings, star-studded events that also involve bites, drinks, and the chance to watch a movie where movies aren’t usually seen.

The Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows in Santa Monica is renowned for being one of those cool pool spots, and the oceanside property’s Poolside Cinema Series is back, on select nights, this summer.

Pixar’s moving musical gem “Coco” premieres May 28, while “Frozen” brings a joyful thrill to May 29.

“How to Train Your Dragon,” “Moana,” and “Encanto” are just a few of the sweet films that will follow as the summer rolls around deliciously.

And speaking of “deliciously”: guests of the outdoor movies can enjoy free popcorn, while ordering a meal or a delicious drink at the FIG restaurant?

It’s a tasty part of the special evening by the pool. Note that there is a $25 food and drink minimum per person, when you reserve your spot through Resy.

All the information about this uplifting family series, outdoors and under the stars can be found on the hotel’s website, as well as a link to reservations.
