liger: Boycott Liger trends on Twitter ahead of the film’s release

Twitter caught up with the ‘Boycott Liger’ trend and trolls targeted Vijay Deverakonda and the Bollywood movie also starring Ananya Panday. The film is set to release on August 25 and it is an important film as it marks Deverakonda’s Bollywood debut.

The almost naked image of the actor on the poster also made headlines and is noticed.

Twitter was split over the issue, with many tweeting in support of the actor and the hashtag had gained thousands of tweets. Those who support the actor have denounced the trolls for targeting the “self-taught” actor.

“#BoycottLigerMovie #VijayDeverakonda is a self made star and a hard worker don’t make these kind of trends….. Let him grow.. If the producer is Karan Johar.. why should Vijay devarakonda face a problem s ‘please.. stop this (sic),’ wrote one user.

Another user pointed out how Deverakonda reminded them of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, as he too rose to fame despite his privileged past. The user wrote: “#BoycottLigerMovie Before boycotting LIGER movie everyone must think that.. this is another sushant singh who also comes from middle zero and he faced many hurdles in the industry Telugu film.. please think before you boycott his film.. please don’t ruin his career.

A third user wrote, “Literally people will find a way to light up and hate one of the less problematic actors, Vijay Deverakonda. #BoycottLigerMovie.

A Vijay fan said, “I think these people are crazy. Most people don’t know why they tend to boycott.

Vijay is a self made star, that’s how you treat a self made star. I think #BoycottLigerMovie tendencies don’t know how to encourage self-made (sic) stars.”

Some also joked about how the boycott trend has become a new facade on social media and has no relevance. Ditto some of these tweets:

But in the meantime, the Liger film has generated huge interest among moviegoers and fans. Apparently, Mike Tyson is also set to make his Indian cinema debut in this film. The film is directed by Puri Jagannadh and was shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu. It will be produced by Dharma Productions and Puri Connects.

Vijay Deverakonda plays the role of an MMA fighter alongside American boxer Mike Tyson and he has a long appearance while making his debut in Indian cinema. It was also believed to have intense action sequences. The film also features Ananya Pandey and Ramya Krishnan.
