Jujutsu kaisen celebrates the box office success of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie in Japan with a cool new poster! The anime’s first season from Gege Akutami’s original manga series was a huge hit with fans as they loved seeing how Studio MAPPA brought Yuji Itadori and the others to life. Fans were pretty much expecting to see the anime continue in some form or another at the end of that first season, but the real surprise was that instead of a second season, the franchise went on. continued with a new feature film. But that was only the start of the swerves.

It was then confirmed that this new film would not star Yuji, Megumi, Nobara, or any of the main favorites, but rather would be the first introduction by many fans to the original hero of the series that Akutami had conceived before the manga is not serialized. Yuta Okkotsu is leading the fray for this new film as the star of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, and it was such a hit in Japan after its release during the holidays that the movie released a cool new poster for Yuta to celebrate the occasion! You can verify it as shared by Jujutsu Kaisen’s official Twitter account below:

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 hit theaters in Japan on December 24 and topped the box office during its opening weekend. Since then, reports have revealed that the film continues to do the same, but does not dominate theaters like some of the biggest anime releases of last year. For fans outside of Japan, the film has unfortunately yet to reveal any official international release plans. If all goes well for theatrical releases the rest of the year in the face of complications from COVID, we’ll likely see an international release of the film this year one way or another.

This new movie adapts Akutami’s original four-chapter limited series that shared a rough idea of the Jujutsu Kaisen world before it was later finalized for full serialization. Akutami then decided to make this original pilot an official part of the series canon, so it now serves as a prequel that introduces Yuta Okkotsu and his various abilities before his full introduction into the manga before the current Culling game arc.
