Chris Pratt voices Mario in the new animated Super Mario Bros. and the internet has a parcel opinions on this. Even Chris Pratt himself weighed in.
Shortly after it was announced that Pratt had been cast as Mario, it became apparent that the red-clad, mustached plumber had his work cut out for him as the internet grew. flooded with reactions, memes and jokes about the seemingly controversial casting choice. Some supported the decision while others sighed “mamma mia” in response to the news.
A few people reflected on Pratt’s previous acting roles and found it hard to imagine how the actor would play the famous fictional plumber to deliver the character’s signature Italian accent. Pratt, however, assured fans on Instagram that he is “working hard” to get Mario’s right voice because the role is a “dream come true” for him. However, he clarifies that “You will have to wait to hear the voice.”
When announcing the casting, you could tell that the internet was doing what the internet does best, as Twitter users produced various memes, jokes, and videos that would make people Luigi-hee-hee’ing For days :

Many people were stunned that Charles Martinet, aka the person who voiced Mario and several other video game characters since the ’90s, was featured in the star-studded lineup but was assigned a series of surprise cameos in the film. rather than the beloved characters he’s famous for.

Aside from Pratt and Martinet, the rest of the film’s vocal cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong. Additionally, Kevin Michael Richardson will play Kamek, Fred Armisen will play Cranky Kong, and Sebastian Maniscalco will play Foreman Spike.
Casting director Kevin T. Porter has apparently responded to reactions from trending hashtags, as he shared a tweet the day after the announcement went viral. âHey, it’s me, the casting director of the new Mario movie,â he wrote. “I am really proud of the choices we made with the whole team and we are more than happy to tell this story!”
