Non-profit organization continues efforts to unite NOCO creatives

The Horsetooth International Film Festival (HIFF), a newly designated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization scheduled for September 8-11, has announced its upcoming “Best of Fest” screening in Greeley at the Kress Theater starting in 7 p.m. and will host a “mix and mix” at Weldwerks Brewing Company at 5 p.m. Ticket holders of legal drinking age will receive a free beer with their ticket at Kress Cinema before the screening. The HIFF presentation will feature some of the best films from the 3 year festival and an inside look from the festival goers who attended.

“Greeley’s growing movie scene is a perfect example of how northern Colorado as a whole is becoming a movie destination,” says HIFF co-founder Jesse Nyander. “The ‘Best of Fest’ events are designed to showcase and unite NOCO’s creative communities and showcase our region’s unique independent theaters.”

HIFF4 is planning the biggest in-person and virtual crowd yet in September and throughout the year with monthly and quarterly events to fuel the appetite of the growing number of creatives moving to the region.

“Since the first year, we’ve worked hard to provide consistent new opportunities for creatives in Northern Colorado,” said HIFF co-founder John Hunt. “It’s been amazing to see Colorado’s filmmaking soar to become one of the fastest growing states in the nation for filmmaking and one of the fastest growing professional industries in the state. “

HIFF has rebranded and transformed to fully engage participants in a physical, virtual and mental playground. The main goal of the festival in 2022 is to activate the many venues and digital spaces that HIFF inhabits and to engage creatively with patrons and artists. Festival organizers predict an annual attendance of over 5,000 people and a peak in digital impressions of almost 300%. HIFF’s team of volunteers and a growing and thriving community of creatives who continue to raise the bar are equally optimistic.

The annual “Call for Applications” for filmmakers began for HIFF4 on March 1 with a revised focus on Colorado’s favorite categories, including:

  • “Narrative” short film
  • Student short film “Next Generation”
  • Short Film “Documentary” ● Short Film “Outdoor”
  • Stop-motion animated short film
  • “Results May Vary” Experimental Short Film
  • “Another Dimension” VR, AR and Full-Dome Short Film
  • “I Want My MTV Back” Music Video
  • Narrative feature “The Colorado Premiere”

Regular, late, and extended deadlines will hit May 1, May 21, and June 15 consecutively. One final “Oh Sh*t!” The July 7 deadline allows last-minute creatives to participate in the highly anticipated HIFF4 experience.

Interested sponsors should contact by May 1 to ensure the limited number of opportunities available. HIFF hosts an active network of creatives, fans, volunteers, and members of the industry and supporting community on Facebook and Instagram to share festival news and special events.
