From Antarctica to Ghana to New Zealand, cities that many people have never heard of are on the list.
One of the crown jewels of the Georgian coast, Savannah, made the cut.
The editors said Savannah was listed because it was in a time of “radical change.”
Here is the complete draft for the city:
“The southern host city’s waterfront is undergoing radical changes, transforming underused spaces into new neighborhoods, further highlighting the city’s hidden treasures. On the site of a former power station, the brand new Plant Riverside offers several restaurants, many with river views and terraces, such as the German-style Riverside Biergarten. Its towering double fireplaces soar above concert halls, mindful morning yoga classes, and the new JW Marriott Savannah, which has a rooftop lounge. About a mile to the east is Eastern Wharf, a 54-acre development that will include Thompson Savannah. Among the liveliest openings are The Jules, housed in a renovated 19th-century mansion in the historic district’s Chippewa Square, and the 3 Points Food Court, a food-truck park that hosts garden games, movie nights. and concerts.
Other areas in the Southeast include Sarasota, Memphis, and Orlando.
