Brunello Cucinelli and Oliver Peoples Collaborate on Cinema-Inspired Eyewear Collection

0

Italian luxury heavyweight Brunello Cucinelli has teamed up with Los Angeles eyewear legend Oliver Peoples to create a five-piece eyewear collection. And it is also a first for the brand. This collaboration is not only Cucinelli’s first adventure in eyewear, it is the first collaboration of the legendary house in its history. Oliver Peoples was a perfect fit for a capsule collection, due to their common emphasis on craftsmanship, style and luxury inherent in simplicity (which is arguably Cucinelli’s specialty).

Inspired by glamorous visions of Italian cinema and Solomeo’s architecture, each of the five pairs of sunglasses embodies the DNA of both brands. The lightweight and comfortable construction of the Oliver Peoples eyewear harmonizes beautifully with Brunello Cucinelli’s natural color palette, while the designers’ attention to detail shines through in the styles. The collaboration and design process went smoothly, as Brunello Cucinelli and Oliver Peoples were both industry pioneers in their respective fields. For example, Cucinelli became the first to dye cashmere in 1978, and Peoples broke the aesthetic of 1980s eyewear by introducing eyewear with vintage-inspired colors, frames, and shapes in 1987. Carolina Cucinelli, Brunello Cucinelli Co-President and Creative Director shared with T&C that “Detail, quality and design are core values at both Brunello Cucinelli and Oliver Peoples, creating an authentic collaboration.”

Each style of eyewear is made in Italy and showcases the best elements of design and quality. Cucinelli’s beloved “Monile” motif is translated into the centerline of the eyewear, and discreet engraved logos cover the corners and lenses. The houses honored Cucinelli’s classic Italian heritage with nuanced nods to medieval castle architecture and the Dolce Vita lifestyle. What better way to live out your cinematic fantasies of the Italian countryside?

The collaboration is available on the Brunello Cucinelli website, the Oliver Peoples website and in boutiques around the world.
