Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, set the box office on fire by garnering very strong box office collections on its opening day. The film has earned around Rs. 35.5-36 cr nett across India and the film is rallying well to cross Rs. 100 cr nett quite comfortably, the first weekend. The film recorded one of the biggest openings for an Indian film overseas, grossing $3.40 million on its first day. Despite such good numbers, a lot of false information circulated on social networks, related to the fact that the film was not doing well at the box office.
The CEO of multiplex chain PVR, Kamal Gianchandani, clarified the false and negative information related to the film’s box office, shared on the Internet, with a series of tweets. He was confused as to whether it was the lack of understanding or if it was done intentionally. Mr. Gianchandani mentioned that the mythological fantasy drama directed by Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt is doing well in the PVR multiplex channel and backed up his statement by giving insight into how other Indian films performed at the box- office, after the pandemic, on their first day. He also shared that the film’s collections are growing and that Saturday and Sunday will get terrific numbers. While the film earned a net day one figure of Rs. 8.11 cr at PVR, day 2 numbers are pegged at 9.75 cr and a day 3 of 10 cr is in all probability assured.
