Binge Report US Streaming TV & Movie Charts: Dreams & Nightmares (Week Ending August 7, 2022)


Welcome to the Binge Report, where we take a look at the most popular original movies and TV shows Americans streamed in the past week. For those interested in Australian figures (provided to us by streaming search engine JustWatch), please take a look here. You can read last week’s report here.

The TV Time app (iPhone and android) helps users organize their streaming plans. The data here is tracked by US users of the app and some shows listed are not available in Australia without the use of a proper VPN.


“Prey” (Hulu) was the most streamed movie over the weekend of August 5-7, 2022, as the “Predator” prequel really stuck with fans of the franchise. Light yearthe arrival of on Disney+ saw him finish second, just ahead Unexploredwhich is also finding a new home on Netflix (on the US version, I’m afraid).

Apple TV+’s original “Luck” movie was 6th, while wedding season was 7th and “They/Them” (Peacock) was 8th.

Making way for all of these changes leaving the top 10 were the films “Honor Society”, “The Sea Beast”, “Persuasion”, “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, “The Lost City”, and “The Man from Toronto”.

Streaming Originals:

Netflix’s Neil Gaiman Superhero TV Series The sand man was the second most-streamed original television series of the week and the most popular top 10 newcomer.

Also new to the top 10 were Decoupled in 8th and “American Horror Stories” (Hulu) in 10th.

“The Umbrella Academy”, “The Boys” and “Evil” all dropped out of the top 10.
