Benedict Cumberbatch Says Sherlock Has More Successful Scope Than Doctor Strange

Benedict Cumberbatch may have an important role to play in the MCU as Doctor Strange, but he still feels his time was bigger than Sherlock.

You’d think being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be a tough gig to get to, but for Benedict Cumberbatch, he thinks playing Sherlock was more successful than strange doctor. Cumberbatch returned as a Marvel Wizard this year in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but despite the continued success of the Marvel franchise, the actor still thinks that sherlock has greater reach as a television series. While speaking in a profile piece for The discussionsCumberbatch was asked about his move from television to the “bigger” Marvel blockbusters, but in response he replied:

“Well, as far as it being a bigger pond than Sherlock…I don’t think it is. I think Sherlock, for me, had a bigger reach than something like Doctor Strange because it’s is television; it’s more democratic, more people have I’ve seen it. The reach of this program is extraordinary. It was kind of a stink bomb that I knew was going to go off the minute I I said yes to playing the part. But I had no idea how big it would be – it surprised all of us who did.”

sherlock was a massive hit over its four seasons, and having only four episodes per season, the show always left fans wanting more. Although it took a long time for Season 4 to get done, when it came it didn’t quite hit the mark like its previous seasons, leading many to believe it might be the last. time we will see Cumberbatch as the brilliant detective.

One of the main reasons why by Sherlock the fourth season took too long to make, and why there’s been no movement on other adventures of the Baker Street crime-solving genius is that everyone involved in the series is a lot busier now than they were in the first season of sherlock was made. As well as Cumberbatch, his sherlock co-star Martin Freemanwho played Watson on the show, is also in the MCU, playing Agent Everett Ross in several Marvel projects, including the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Disney+ series Secret Invasionand found a healthy career in Hollywood in films such as Peter Jackson The Hobbit trilogy.

Martin Freeman has previously hinted that the most likely way sherlock would get another release if it was a feature rather than a series, but so far neither he nor Cumberbatch have committed to anything due to their schedules. While there’s no doubt that fans of Cumberbatch’s version of Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous creation would love to see it again, Netflix Enola Holmes 2 gave Sherlock fans another option in Henry Cavill’s view of Holmes, with the potential for the character to get its own spin-off from the Millie Bobby Brown-led franchise. On top of that, Robert Downey Jr. is also potentially back in a third Holmes film, which was teased earlier this year. Currently, it’s a much more likely outcome of Benedict Cumberbatch reprising the role again.
