BBNaija is like an X-rated movie, displays nudity – young people in the North call for a ban on popular TV show

The Arewa Youth Advisory Forum (AYCF) called on the Nigerian government to ban the broadcast of the Big Brother Naija reality show, known as BBNaija.

AYCF National President Yerima Shettima said BBNaija encourages immorality and sexual indulgence and therefore should be banned in Nigeria.

Shettima spoke to the Daily Post on Friday, describing the reality show as a disaster that Nigeria should reject.

“It’s a calamity for me; I never believed in BBNaija and I don’t think it’s fair because the show is an act of immorality. Such a spectacle should not be encouraged.

“I have often said that this show encourages immorality and that the Nigerian government should ban it, it should not be allowed to be broadcast in our country.

“You see, a lot of people are watching to see acts of immorality, these sexual things flaunting their nudity, and they made it look like a blue movie (X rated movie), so that is to be discouraged.

“I urge true lovers of the country to join hands and draw the government’s attention to the implication of this program which should be discouraged,” he said.

Over the years, BBNaija’s roommates have been caught on camera having sex or being involved in other forms of sexual activity.

But many have also argued that viewers have a choice of whether or not to watch the show.
